Our practical help service is dependent on donations to continue supplying families with the clothing and equipment they need for their children.

All donations of baby clothing and equipment should go to our Baby Boutique at 28 Great Junction Street – the shop acts as our sorting centre for the service. Unfortunately we are no longer accepting donations of baby clothing or equipment at our office.

Here is a list of some of the things that we accept, including health and safety guidance related to each type of item. Please be aware that we cannot accept items that do not meet these specifications.

If there is any obvious damage, missing pieces or rips and tears in an item will not accept it.

We are limited by space at all of our locations so if you are planning to donate furniture items or have a particularly large donation please contact the location you plan to drop it at and we will let you know if we can accept it immediately or if we need a little time to make space. Contact details for the shops can be found here, for the office please email info@counsellingandcare.co.uk

Car Seats (all sizes) – We do not accept car seats at any of our locations.

Stairgates – We do not accept stairgates at any of our locations.

Our Baby Boutique is at 28 Great Junction Street, and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 10am and 4.30pm. You can also drop items off at our general charity shop at 146 Gorgie Road. If you can’t make it to any of our locations you can call our shop in Gorgie on 0131 346 7295 and arrange for our driver to collect from you. If items are collected by the shop please remember that it is under the driver’s discretion.

Unfortunately, we simply cannot take items that are not suitable for the service.

We believe our clients deserve the best for their children, a good measure of whether we can accept an item is ‘would I be happy to receive this for my own child?’

We release monthly wishlists on our website and social media which details items or clothing sizes that we are low on. Check out the ‘News‘ section of our website for the latest list.

If you are not based in Edinburgh or the Lothians you can check our Baby Bank Map page for details of other similar services across the UK.
