About Us

Mission

Pregnancy Counselling and Care (Scotland) strives to respect the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each individual seeking support. Our aim is to help build communities that are involved and caring by offering emotional and practical support to those affected by pregnancy-related issues.

Baby Bank Service

Through our practical help service, PCC(S) supports families, in all their varied forms, to flourish. We support babies and toddlers by providing families with whatever practical help they need. Our baby bank service is available to anyone regardless of ability to pay or access to public funds. It is a ‘free to access’ -service through a referral from a statutory agency worker. You can find out more about accessing the service by clicking on the button below.

Counselling Service

The counselling service aat PCC(S) is independent and impartial in its practice. We are not associated with any other organisation (political or religious) and all our counsellors adhere to the COSCA Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice. We respect the autonomy of each person who seeks support and help them to reach decisions and solutions that are congruent with their own values. This service is to help anyone affected by pregnancy-related issues and we welcome teenagers, women and men to PCC(S). To access the service, click on the button below.

All our services are offered free to anyone in need regardless of background, experience or ability to pay.

History of PCC(S)

Pregnancy Counselling and Care (Scotland) began as ‘Lifeline’ in 1976 by the late Jeanette Knight.  Initially, the focus was to offer relief, care and assistance to pregnant women and mothers of young children, in any way that was possible.

There have been significant changes over the years, with an emphasis on our services becoming more professional, accessible and accountable, in line with the standards and requirements of 21st century charitable activities. Counselling, in particular has become more rigorously regulated in the last decades. PCC(S) has achieved COSCA’s (Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies) required standard for recognition as a counselling organisation.

Practical assistance has developed over the years and we can now offer a range of sizes of baby clothing, cots, moses baskets, bedding, high chairs and car seats.  All recycled and donated clothing and equipment is thoroughly checked and sorted by our volunteers and then assembled into Newborn Starter Packs, or offered as individual items, as required.
